Like the enlightenment of a yogi who lives their life in the present moment, a social worker's educational background and professional experiences offer a clear perspective on today's mental health problems and social injustice. Rather than providing insight to the inner dialogue between your thoughts, a social worker can provide awareness of societal gaps that prevent humankind from truly excelling as a species. True social change requires realizing who we are beyond form. Social workers are the only professionals that sit in that suffering with marginalized populations while possessing the knowledge of how society is shaped and how it's shape impacts the people within it. Profound realizations can happen when it becomes the world you live in for 40+ hours each week.
